About Me

Tom Nelson - Sports Rehabilitation

Tom is BASRaT accredited sports rehabilitation therapist specialising in rehabilitating musculoskeletal injuries. With an extensive background in competitive combat sports Tom has been exposed to high level athletes for many years. And having competed for Wales in olympic freestyle wrestling has also had his fair share of rehabilitation to do.

Tom has a passion for helping people and sees a wide range of clients from professional athletes such as former English champion boxer, Jack Flatley to your everyday gym goer, to your avid zumba class dancer and many more.

You do not have to be involved in sports to benefit from sports rehabilitation as Tom specialises in all things pain and discomfort related for example chronic lower back pain and sciatica, tennis elbow and rotator cuff related pain plus many more. Tom is also the senior therapist at Colwyn Bay FC where he looks after the full squad ensuring they stay in top shape for the full season.

If you are presenting with an injury or pain weather it be chronic lower back pain or a pulled muscles we will first provide a full musculoskeletal assessment in order to help diagnose the issue and formulate a tailored rehabilitation plan that is personal to your life and your specific needs. Once the assessment is completed we will go through the necessary manual therapy, for example massage, joint and muscle mobilisations & stretching. Proceeding this we will move on to begin the rehabilitation exercises.

SPORTS MASSAGE & CUPPING

If you are just looking to maintain your current physical health and wellbeing, maybe you are a competitive athlete or just an avid active person you may wish to choose this maintenance option. This session focuses purely of sports massage which can be coupled with cupping and aims to keep your body in top shape, reducing muscle soreness, muscle tension and promoting healthy circulation or blood and lymph. This is also a great service for anyone wishing to relax and forget about the stresses of daily life.

Weather you are a total beginner wanting an introduction and framework for the gym and weight training, or an avid gym goer who’s looking to change up their training or an athlete looking to gain that physical edge in your sport we can tailor a plan to suit you. With a background and strength and conditioning Tom can provide suitable and challenging workout programmes to suit your specific goals. With an extensive background in combat sports Tom can also provide high level kickboxing/mma style workouts to get you in shape whilst learning new skills.

I’ve seen Tom a couple of times due to a couple of different injuries. Tom is very professional and amazing at what he does, I went to Tom with a sore shoulder and within 1 session he gave me some very good exercises to do to strengthen the rotarcuff and by the next day I had a lot more movement in my shoulder. would highly recommend optimised wellbeing for any injuries or enquiries.
